After watching this episode, I thought real hard to decide how great this episode is, and to be honest, it is pitch perfect, why? The episode is very well paced and well planned out for something only 11 minutes long(I would've preferred it 22 minutes but that's just me). Where the episode begins to really kick in with the emotion level is when Steven is all alone and decides to make himself food. What's really clever is that often, when people are alone, they may tend to think about their life, and they think upon how they can make it better. Steven looks at the picture of his mom, he tries to avoid it whether it would be going outside to eat(but then a thunderstorm comes), or simply looking away from it, but he cannot runaway from what is troubling him. The episode becomes very emotionally satisfying when Steven relaxes with Rose for a little bit, and because he finally got to "meet his mom", he takes out his phone to take a picture with her, only to fine there is nothing but himself in the picture, which drives him to think of the negative that Rose has done. Now, something I predict is that this entire storm-filled sequence when Rose is in the air and Steven complains to her, after she comes down, it could possibly be the real Rose speaking to Steven about how she wanted to have Steven exist on Earth, even if it meant for Rose to disappear. After that, they hug, Rose turns into the clouds, and blows away. Steven is now back in his house, and the Crystal Gems along with Greg arrive back from somewhere I cannot recall. The best thing about this entire episode is the fact that Steven actually got to see what his mom was really like, personality wise, that one scene where Steven admits he has been thinking about Rose and admits how nice it is to finally see her is a scene that may shed a tear in ones eye. Also, something that is also remarkable is the entire scene after Connie and her mom leave, where Steven is alone and he is left simply thinking about his mom. There is not much dialog in this scene, you just feel how powerful the moment is. The episode itself is also very laid back, and I really appreciate it for that. Overall, this is a wonderful, wonderful episode. Even though, I do have the nitpick of how we did not get to see Pink Diamond(I thought we were going to), but bah, I can wait on that. This is still a phenomenal episode.
